I DISAGREE
Especially when it comes to health, fitness & weightloss & gyms v personal training
Lets say a guy wanting to get in shape joins a gym
Signing up locally around South Woodford or Wanstead will cost him £50 a month for a relatively nice gym with good equipment
He gets show around on his first visit by a nice member of the sales team, who is really attentive & makes sure he gets all the information he needs
then the second he signed on the dotted line…gone
Now he is on his own
That’s cool he can buy a fitness magazine to learn what to do
But doesnt really understand the terminology or how to correctly use the equipment or where it even is & he doesnt want to look stupid in front of all the fit people
OK he will bite the bullet & just go do it and get started…. good i like that in him
but all he really knows what to use properly is the cross trainer so he jumps on that, doing 15 mins and getting up a good sweat
Then he sees a machine empty so decides to use that, it feels like its working the legs well…3 sets of 10 he thinks the sales person said
and he repeats this with one or two other machines hoping that’s enough for that 6 pack he dreams of
but what about nutrition…he knows this is important!
But theres sooo much information out there, with people contradicting each other all the time
its a minefield, can you eat carbs or not, WTF is keto, do i have to eat clean when i hate salad? he now has a headache
so he tries something a colleague mentioned that worked for her, to see if works for him
a month goes by
He isnt really seeing any results
He feels really restricted in what he can eat
His motivation starts to dwindle
3 sessions a week training hopes become 1 a week in a rushed visit
Then brilliant, a friend of his who is also a member of the gym invites him to a class…this is great
He rocks up all eager, joins in the class, at the back to avoid people staring at the newbie
And an hour later he feels like someone has physically beaten him up,
he hurts…and not in the good way
If he was lucky and the instructors were attentive they will have paid him some attention otherwise he spent an hour trying not to break himself
coming away disliking the class, the instructor and his now ex-friend
The class, ‘INSANE-PUMP’ was way beyond where he even thought it was possible to train and has furthered his frustrations
2 months becomes 3
his training becomes infrequent
his gym membership becomes a line on a bank statement, easy for him to ignore
but locked in for a year
12 months later
maybe a few Ibs lost
maybe some fitness improvement
maybe he’s just £600 lighter
Personal training for the equivalent cost
not only save clients a year of wasted time
it will gets them better results in that shorter time frame than they would of with a year of half baked training
it will educate them on EXACTLY what they should have been doing in the gym
EXACTLY how to manage what they are eating and drinking to live a normal life, continue dropping weight, maintaining it when they reach their goal and getting back on track when they inevitably slip up
It will have helped find the things they ENJOY doing to make building the habit required much a more pleasurable and longer lasting experience
its fast tracking results
maximising what can be achieved
learning whats needed to do it alone
its not a luxury
it massively increasing the chances of actually doing what is SET OUT to do and not giving up
